DTC Ambassador Review
DTC Ambassador is promoted as one of the Premium Wine Clubs, and it is certainly that. In addition, it is another one of those Multi-Level Marketing opportunities.
Not to be confused with Pyramid Schemes, where there is no product. This MLM has great, if expensive, products and once you join, wine is delivered to your door each month.
The wines are of exceptionally good quality and come directly to your door from Napa or Sonoma Valleys in California. The wines are tasted and selected for members each month by Rory Ricord and Brett Hudson, the founders.
DTC Ambassador is more than just a Premium Wine Club. It also distributes high quality cheeses as well as meats, such as Wagyu Beef.
While it is not mandatory to purchase the cheeses or meats, you must purchase wine each month to maintain your membership status.
Levels of Membership
To earn commissions with DTC Ambassador, there are three levels of membership:
- Estate Member
- Reserve Member
- Grand Cru Member
Estate Membership
Estate Membership costs $300 to join and there is an annual fee of $50.
On joining Estate Membership you will receive a case of wine (12 bottles). In addition, there is a 10% discount of additional cases of wine you order.
Reserve Membership
Reserve Membership costs $600 to join and there is an annual fee of $50.
With Reserve Membership, on joining, you will receive two cases of wine (24 bottles). As well as this, there is a 15% discount on any additional cases of wine you order.
Grand Cru Membership
Grand Cru Membership costs $1,200 to join and there is an annual fee of $50.
On joining Grand Cru Membership you will receive two cases of wine. In addition, there is a special box containing six bottles of luxury, exceptional wines. There is also a 20% discount on additional cases of wine that you order.
In addition to the above, and to maintain your membership, you are required to order a minimum of four bottles of wine each month at a cost of $99.95, plus shipping costs.
With shipping, you will be paying around $130 per month to maintain your position in the hierarchy and be eligible to receive commissions.
We should also mention here that there are some non-ship States in the USA. If you reside in one of these, you can still join DTC Ambassador.
For a monthly payment of $59.95 you will not receive direct deliveries of wine, because your State does not allow it.
For this payment you will be able to build your team and become a member of the Vortex powerline system getting regular marketing leads.
Because everything is done online, your team members do not need to live near you or even in the same State.
Don’t Want Participate In MLM? Then, Become A Wine Customer.
If you really love good wine, but do not want to be part of the MLM program, you can become a Wine Customer.
This will cost you $99.95 plus shipping as above.
If you introduce three friends to DTC Ambassador and they become monthly customers, your wine will be free.
You will still have to pay for shipping, but you will be saving the cost of the wine, which is around $25 per bottle.
Training And Marketing
Rory and Brett Hudson have a wealth of marketing experience between them, so, as you might expect, there is some worthwhile online training.
The CEO of DTC Ambassador, Rory Ricord, is also the founder of RRR247 of which DTC Ambassador is the #1 Anchor Offer. See our review of RRR247 here.
Once you login to DTC Ambassador, in your back office there is a tab for E-Training which will take you through seven lessons. These are:
- Steps to Launch Your Business.
- Company and Product Overview.
- Building a 3X3 and Unlocking The Coded Bonus.
- Details of The Compensation Plan.
- How To Set Up and Host A Wine Tasting Event.
- Creating Your 90-day Plan.
- Your Weekly/Monthly Action Steps.
At the end of these seven lessons, you can print out a copy of the Getting Started document to refresh your memory. Everything in the lessons is detailed in this document.
In addition, on the marketing front, you can buy into a lead generation system that is called Vortex at $14.95 or $59.95. Depending on your level of membership you will be delivered either up to10 leads per month or 25.
The lead generation system has been developed by Rory Ricord who has extensive marketing experience.
DTC Ambassador – The Compensation Plan
As with all such MLM opportunities, the Compensation Plan is quite complicated and relies on a Representative having both Left and Right Teams of enrollees (called Binary). This can be confusing for newcomers.
Nevertheless, the DTC Ambassador Compensation Plan is quite generous for its Ambassadors.
Three and Free
The first type of compensation for both representatives and customers, is the “three and free” plan. Once you have three monthly paying customers, your own wine is free, except for shipping and tax costs.
This “three and free” also applies if you have one customer who makes three monthly purchases – the next month, your own wine is free. So, in fact, every fourth month, your wine is free.
Customer Acquisition Bonus
There is an Acquisition Bonus of $20 for each additional customer you personally enroll from the 4th customer onward. Then a $10 monthly bonus on the repeat orders of these customers.
Wine Starter Kits
If you sign up other DTC Ambassador members at the levels mentioned above there is a 50% compensation on the actual cost.
For example, if you sign up an Estate Member at $300, you will receive $150 and so on.
Binary Payments
This is a percentage payment on the Group Business Volume (GBV) calculated on the volume of business achieved from both your Left and Right Teams.
The percentage can be as low as 6% or as high as 22% depending on your position in the hierarchy.
Check Match
The final compensation payment that is available is a payment on the binary earnings of the people you have personally sponsored.
So, you enroll someone and they build their own Left and Right Teams who order wines, you get paid a percentage payment on those earnings.
What I Like About The DTC Ambassador MLM Program.
While I generally do not like MLM programs, there are some good things about DTC Ambassador:
- The wine is exceptionally good – both red and white, as well as sparkling.
- You get the wines delivered directly to your door on a monthly basis.
- The Compensation Plan is generous.
- The “three and free” is a great benefit for both customers and Ambassadors.
What I Don’t Like About The DTC Ambassador MLM Program.
- The fact that it is Multi-Level-Marketing to start with.
- To be successful, you must enroll others into DTC Ambassador.
- The wine is good but expensive – $25 per bottle.
- There is a high cost to join at $300, $600, $1,200.
- You must purchase wine every month to maintain your membership status.
- There is an additional fee for the Vortex Lead Generation System.
Who Should Join DTC Ambassador?
The people who would get the most out of this would be wine lovers who also want to build an MLM business.
To be successful at MLM, whatever the product, you really need to believe in the model.
So, whether you love wine or not, if you believe you can build a successful business with the DTC Ambassador MLM Program, then go for it.
A word of warning, though, most of the people who make most of the money are the ones at the top. The ones who got in “on the first floor” so to speak and have a huge “downline”.
To be successful, you must keep recruiting people to join your team, and also to encourage your team members to do the same. The more you recruit and spend on products, the more you make and the more is made by your upline.
I am not trying to discourage you, only to warn you that the majority of people who join companies that promote MLM will lose money.
If you don’t want to be one of them, you must believe in the model and work hard at it to achieve success.
My Final Thoughts on DTC Ambassador Review.
I have tried to give you an honest review of the DTC Ambassador MLM Program. Actually, I was a member for a couple of years.
Though I greatly enjoyed the wines, I never really made any money.
I managed a few months of free wine and covered my joining fee but that was about all.
When I joined DTC Ambassador, it was because I was a member of RRR247, which I had thought was affiliate marketing.
As it turned out, the three “Anchor Offers” we promoted were all MLMs. DTC Ambassador was #1, Velovita #2 and Valentus was #3.
After 2.5 years of this, and trying hard to be successful, I decided to call it quits. I just did not want to continue with Multi-Level-Marketing anymore.
Which brings me right to Wealthy Affiliate, where this website is hosted. If you, like me, are more interested in building a business with affiliate marketing, then click on the image below to learn more.
Thanks for your comment, Al. The wine is definitely good quality and I’m with you about paying $25 for a good bottle. It was just the MLM aspect that finally broke my enthusiasm. I checked the image at the bottom of the page and it is definitely there with the link, so it may have been your internet connection. Anyway, thanks and I appreciate your comments.
Hi Daniel, Thanks for your comment. Please do show the article to your partner, I’m sure she would love the wines. If she decides that she would like to join, but not run a business, she can certainly join as a Customer and have fine wines delivered to the door each month. Appreciate you stopping by.
