Would you like to know how to create a blog post that gets active traffic?
Well, you shouldn’t feel paralyzed about creating a blog post.
It is quite simple when broken down into its components.
Remember to always offer valuable information for your target audience.
Here, we explain our 7-point plan to help you create a better blog post.
Let’s dive right in.
1. Generate A Seductive Headline.
A great headline or title is essential.
An important aspect of generating such a headline is to include your main keyword.
So…
This can be either a short or long-tail keyword. How ever your headline is constructed, it must seduce the reader into wanting to learn more.
There are many ways to create such a headline, and we have discussed some of them here.
With around six million articles (blog posts) being created on a daily basis, you need a great headline to stand out from the crowd.
This will be an excellent way to begin any blog post.
2. Create Intrigue With The Intro Sentence Or Paragraph.
The introductory paragraph or sentence of your blog post should intrigue the reader.
This will either draw readers in or cause them to be uninterested and go away.
Your introduction should be interesting and engaging. It should arouse curiosity.
Questions are a great way to introduce your topic, such as the one at the beginning of this blog post.
Keywords and SEO should be included.
Also, it should offer the reader an idea of what to expect from the rest of your content.
Inquiring minds want to know stuff. So, unless you tap into that right away, you will lose them.
3. Write Captivating Content With Attractive Formatting.
When writing content for your blog post remember that you are not writing an essay.
Keep sentences short and to the point.
And paragraphs short, too.
Here is an article I wrote about creating great content for your website.
Many readers who come to your blog will want to skim-read your content.
Therefore…
Make sure they can do that by skillfully formatting your content.
When I am reading online, I definitely find it off-putting to be faced with large blocks of text.
After the first couple of sentences I usually click away and find somewhere else to go for my information.
Ensure that there is plenty of white space available on your page.
You can often put images alongside text to illustrate a particular point.
Or even make a list of points using numbers or dots.
Use the formatting effectively to produce an interesting-looking blog post.
4. Add Engaging Images and/or Videos.
I cannot emphasize enough the importance of adding engaging images and/or videos to your blog posts.
Statistics have shown that blog posts or articles with images are viewed much more often than those without.
When including images or videos, make sure that they are relevant to your content.
Do not include an image just because you like it.
Images and videos should be used purposefully.
For example, use an infographic to simply explain a process or procedure.
We have written an article about how to use Canva to create your own infographics and other images.
5. Ensure That You Use Only Unbroken Links.
When I am searching for something online, nothing annoys me more than clicking on a link that goes nowhere!
Whenever you include a link in your blog post, make sure to check that it is valid.
Even so, this is not always enough.
Sometimes, a link will go to a product on, say, Amazon, only to reveal that the product is discontinued.
This, too, can be annoying.
Check your blog post links regularly and update them if there is a problem.
One way to check for broken or inoperable links is to use this free tool: https://www.brokenlinkcheck.com/.
I run this checker through my websites every couple of months,
In addition, I often do ad hoc checking of individual links to make sure products have not been discontinued.
This is a good housekeeping tip.
6. Dream Up A Compelling Call-To-Action.
Marketers around the world finish an article, an advertisement, a blog post or a paragraph with a call-to-action (CTA).
The simplest form of a CTA might be a button that says: “BUY THIS NOW!”
It lets the reader know what you want them to do next.
And it provides a path for them to take after reading the content.
The pathway could include: visiting other parts of your website, checking out your social media pages, following you on Instagram or subscribing to your email newsletter.
There are several reasons that you should use CTAs in your blog posts. These include:
- Build a supporter base for your email newsletter.
- Link a customer directly to a product.
- Sell a product you are promoting.
- Send them to another article on your website.
A call-to-action lets people know that there is more to see and learn.
And this can be a major factor in getting curious visitors back to your blog again.
Above all, try to be creative with your CTA. Don’t just say “Sign Up Here For Our Newsletter”.
Instead, something like “Let’s Stay Connected” might get you more sign-ups.
7. Timing The Publication Of Your Blog Post.
According to the Blogging Wizard, there is no optimum time to publish your blog posts.
Every blog post will be different and have a different uptake.
The most important thing to remember in publishing your blog posts is be consistent.
If you can only publish one post every week make sure you do, and at the same time of the week.
Perhaps you can write three posts every week. That is even better.
Whatever you are able to accomplish, stay consistent.
The search engines like consistency and will reward you for it with a higher ranking.

Thank you for these tips on how to create a blog post that gets active traffic. Bloggers often say, “Traffic is key.” And it’s true because your traffic determines your sales.
One of the important things I learned from my online community platform is to break down your post into smaller paragraphs. I myself often search for information online and get turned off by articles with huge blocks of text.
Creating an intriguing intro in addition to a seductive headline is a great suggestion, Jenni. I will make sure to remember this whenever writing my blog posts.
By the way, I never thought of checking my links with a link checker. Thank you for sharing the free online tool you are using.

This caught my attention to check out right away because I am a blogger myself always looking for content ideas. I appreciate your easy way to remember the highlights of what we are doing: AIDA Grabbing ATTENTION, Developing INTEREST, Creating a DESIRE and a Call to ACTION. I do my best to write everyday. But I must admit, some days it seems difficult to come up with new material. Do you have any ideas on how to combat the occasional writers block?
